An Interview with Rachel Bernstein

An Interview with Rachel Bernstein

In civilian words, how would you describe your job?

I help to make sure our customers are having the best-in-class experience with our product – fielding questions, prioritizing issues, and consulting them on all things privacy. Our solution is both complex and technical, so we want to make sure they have a thorough understanding of the product and feel supported throughout the process. Primarily, it’s about relationship-building, listening to our customers, and providing our expertise in every interaction. Internally, it’s about making sure there are strategies and processes in place for ensuring the customer lifecycle is both streamlined and effective. As a client-facing lead, I make sure Customer Success (CS) is the voice of the customer throughout Ethyca! Mentoring/coaching has always been a major motivator to me, and I look forward to scaling a team and creating more process automation.

It sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate. What part of your job would people find most surprising?

Just how cross-functional it is! We work across every part of the organization – from marketing, to product, engineering, design, sales, you name it. Oftentimes it feels like CS is the glue bringing together different parts of the organization and making optimizations along the way. It’s really fun to wear so many hats!

So many hats, so little time, and you’re doing such a great job so far! What advice can you share with other superwomen in training?

Why thank you! Find what makes you feel passionate, and incorporate that into your every day. It makes every day much more fun and allows you to approach each challenge as an opportunity. I also think everyone needs to find their superwoman/superman mentor – there is nothing I value more! I am incredibly lucky to have a handful of mentors who provide perspective, encouragement, and motivation.

On that note, what things always makes you happy?

Happy – my morning cup of coffee, foliage, listening to music…. and spending time with friends and family.

It’s 2021, everything is on Zoom, so who would you like to have a 30-minute meeting with? It could be anyone in the world.

Anyone in the world?!!! Sacha Baron Cohen is doing some amazing, wonderful, hilarious things right now – so I’d love to chat with him! I loved his most recent interview in the New York Times.
