To create your API key to connect for your instance of Shopify to Ethyca, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to, and press “Log In”.
  2. Prior to authenticating, you will be prompted for your store address. Copy and paste your entire Shopify store address into Ethyca.
  3. Authenticate as usual with your admin credentials.
  4. Once authenticated, click “Apps” from the left navigation. Scroll to the bottom and click “Manage Private Apps”.
  5. Click “Create a new private app”.
  6. Give your app a descriptive name such as “Ethyca Privacy Management” and assign a support email.
  7. Click the dropdown labeled “Review disabled Admin API permissions”.

8. Select Read and Write access for the following permissions: Products, Assigned Fulfillment Orders, Customers, Discounts, Draft orders, Fulfillment services, Merchant-managed fulfillment, Online Store pages, Order editing, Orders, Shipping, and Store content.

9. Check the box to “Allow this app to access your storefront data using the Storefront API”.

10.Select checkboxes for “Read and modify customer details”, “Read and modify checkouts”, and “Read content like articles, blogs, and content”. Press Save when complete.

11. Press “I understand, create the app” after reading the attestation. Your API Key can be found in the body of the page.
